The adhesive literally sticks your label to the packaging. A very important aspect of your label. After all, this needs to withstand various environments, conditions, and expanses of time. Learn more about the various kinds with this comprehensive list.
Hot-Melt
Popular for the high setting speed and invisible nature of it on glass, metal, and plastics. Hot-melt adhesives temperatures rise above their melting point and then get added to substrates in their melting state.
Water Based
These adhesives are perfect for wet-glue, self-adhesive, and gum paper formulation. They consist of materials or compounds designed to dissolve and also dispersed in water. Then, they become tacky and form a bond. This results in drying through evaporation or penetration into the label substrate.
Solvent-Based
Solvent-based adhesives have fast bond strength, good heat resistance, and even a versatile adhesion to a variety of substrates.
Curable Adhesive
These use UV, or electron-beam systems, to set it. They are also a relatively new development. Curable adhesives use the curing process as the name would suggest.
Clear Adhesive
A transparent coating which helps in proving the “no label” look.
Cold-Temperature
Helpful for labels applied to cold, often moist, surfaces.
Delayed Action Heatseal
For heat sensitive products, delayed action heat seal adhesive is the perfect option. This is because the adhesive remains tacky for some time after the heat source is removed.
Adhesive Film
A film that applies to smooth surfaces like metal or glass without the use of adhesive.
Instantaneous Heatseal
This adhesive bonds as soon as heat is removed. and have primarily been replaced by self-adhesive labels.
High-Temperature Heatseal
With high-temperature hotseal, remove or reposition your label without seeing residue from the adhesive. Instead, it leaves the packaging clean and free of streaks. It’s also perfect label application inconsistent product shapes (like cheese). Or, where the label removal for proper orientation tends to happen.
