A spectrophotometer allows for accurate, automated color readings, leaving no room for human error. Standards are set and matched based on Pantone or your custom color. It makes each and every run consistent.
How a Spectrophotometer Works
Once the printed label sample is placed under the digital tool for it to read and analyze the color. The spectrophotometer is pressed down until information is brought up on the tool’s screen and attached computer. From there, the flexographic press operator makes intelligent adjustment decisions based on data. This ensures accurate color for your brand every time.
Check out the below video where our owner, Tony Cook, discusses how the tool allows for quality checks and ensures perfection.

“We start with color matching the ink prior to sending it to press. Then at the end of the press, we use a digital tool called a spectrophotometer that we use to measure the hue and balance of that ink and we make sure that is within industry standard specified by the customer.”
We Also Use A Graphiclite Light Booth
A Pantone color swatch booklet and Graphiclite light booth act as another checkpoint for operators. Here, they can match the label sample’s color to the one provided on the Pantone swatch using the best lighting. It’s a simple, yet effective way to ensure branded color consistency.
Why is this important?
You don’t want color variations on your label. It’s unprofessional and it also makes customers question the quality of your product. Don’t turn customers toward your competition with questionable packaging. Instead, we guarantee accurate color for every job, big or small. Your logo, mascot or branded color schemes will always match on the grocery store shelf.
